After School Homework Centers
Each small learning community offers an after-school center where students can drop-in to get help with homework, study for tests, explore subject areas in more depth, or just find a quiet place to study. Contact your Learning Community office for days, times and locations.
Cambridge-Harvard Summer Academy
The Cambridge-Harvard Summer Academy represents an exciting and innovative partnership between Cambridge Rindge & Latin School and Harvard University. The program, which is designed to provide academic assistance to students at CRLS, pairs veteran educators and Harvard Teacher Education Program interns as teachers in the classroom. The program allows for personalized instruction in four subject areas:language arts, social studies, science and mathematics. The program is free and open to all current CRLS students, as well as rising 9thgraders from Cambridge Public Schools, private and charter schools.
CSV Tutoring Center
Individual academic tutors are available without charge from the Tutoring Center for students who need focused and/or long-term academic support. Tutors are adult volunteers, retirees, and local college students.
Volunteer tutors are recruited by CSV and are available before school(7:30 - 8:05AM), during school, and after school (2:30-3:30PM) to meet with students. CRLS students are invited to apply for individual tutors in the Tutoring Center, Room 2132. The application process involves an
interview with the Tutoring Center manager in which academic needs and time availability are discussed. Once a student is paired with a tutor, a twice-weekly commitment is expected for as long as the student requires support.

CSV College Ready and SAT Prep

Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV) sponsor assistance with math every morning,Monday – Friday from 7:30 – 8AM for students looking for math help from a tutor. Tutoring is available in all subjects from Algebra 1 through AP Calculus. The CSV office is located in room 2132.
MCAS Support and the MCAS Center
Tutoring is available for students who have not passed the MCAS. Please see the MCAS Coordinator in room 2125 for details. The MCAS Coordinator is responsible for implementing the appeals process including portfolio development and cohort appeals. Parents and students are encouraged tocall Mrs. Gail Stein with MCAS questions. She can be reached at 617.349.6796.
Harvard students provide off-campus tutoring in the following areas:general studies, SAT and TOEFL prep courses, problem solving, writing workshops, college advising and essay help. Students may sign up through their guidance counselor.

MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound
CRLS participates in the MIT-Wellesley Upward Bound and the MIT Education a lTalent Search programs, which are federally sponsored, year round,educational programs that provide academic support and career and college advising to low-income and/or first generation college bound youths who wish to continue their education beyond high school.

MIT's SAT Preparation Program
MIT's SAT Preparation (SAT Prep) program provides instruction in test-taking strategies and in the material covered by the NEW SAT I,focusing on Math, Verbal, and Writing skills. SAT Prep is open to all students grades 9-12. Classes are taught by undergraduate and graduate MIT students.
SAT Prep takes place on Sundays from 1:30 - 5PM in the main buildings of MIT's campus at 77 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, MA.
