Alpine Ski And Board

Advisors: Jon Baring-Gould, Jesse Kaplan

The Ski Club has been in existence at CRLS for 38 years now, and with the help of the advisors, teachers, chaperones, students, and parents we have been able to ski approximately 18,100 skier days in New England, the Rocky Mountains, and Canada.

We will be going on four, day trips this year to Waterville Valley. The people at Waterville have been extremely kind to the ski club and it is a pleasure to continue working with them. The cost for transportation and a lift ticket is $50. Rentals and lessons are an additional $5 each. (So lift ticket and rentals are $55 while lift ticket, rentals and a lesson is $60.) This is still a considerable bargain if you consider that lift tickets alone now cost $78. The ski club does not provide lunch so members should brown bag it or bring $15 to purchase food at the mountain.

For day trips we will meet at 6:15AM on Broadway by the entrance to the library parking lot. We will leave at 6:30AM sharp. Don't be late! We will leave Waterville at 4PM and arrive back at the high school at around 6PM. If you need to reach me, or your child, on the day of the trip call me on my cell phone, but I do not get good reception up in the mountains. If you miss the bus there is a $20 fee for the bus seat that was reserved for you.

Skiing and snow boarding are dangerous sports. The ski club provides wrist guards for snowboards but we are unable to provide helmets. I highly recommend that you purchase a helmet for you child. All students (either skiing or snowboarding) should wear helmets. Helmets can also be rented from Waterville Valley’s rental shop for an additional $8.
