Favorite Class at CRLS
Latin. It’s a really great class for people who like classical history and learning about grammar and language. Latin attracts a really intelligent group of people, and since there is only one teacher, you get to know the other students really well as you take multiple classes with them. By the time I got to AP Latin, I was surrounded by a great group of kids who were really dedicated to the study of Latin, and who I had known since the beginning of high school. Latin also boosted my memory capacity, and has made me look at words in a completely different way.

Favorite Teacher
Ms. Giacchino, the Latin teacher at CRLS. I have taken Latin 1, 2, 3, 4, AP Latin, and one independent study period with her, so there have been only two semesters that I haven’t taken one of her classes. She has a great sense of humor and expects a lot from her students. She has a true passion for language and Roman culture which always makes it exciting to listen to her teach lessons or tell stories.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I really loved how many different types of people went to our school. My friend group is really diverse in terms of racial backgrounds, cultures, political views, and academic levels.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
I think most people take the Rindge School of Technical Arts for granted. I didn’t find out about the Media Technology program until junior year, and I regret that I didn’t start in freshman year.

Advice to Incoming Freshmen
Don’t be afraid to take RSTA classes. If you find yourself interested in one of the fields, go ahead and take it and see if you like it. Always make room in your schedule to try something new.
