Favorite Class at CRLS
Biology. I loved all the biology related classes I took at CRLS. I took basic Biology, Exercise Physiology, and AP Biology. I had wonderful teachers for these three classes, Ms. Augustine for Biology and Exercise Physiology and Ms. Borrelli for AP Bio. I loved learning about biology because it equipped me with the tools to understand and examine the living world.

Favorite Teacher
Mr. Rubin and Mr. Racki. Mr. Rubin was my homeroom teacher and proved to be incredibly caring and enthusiastic. He made a personal connection with every kid in our homeroom, watched out for us, and overall went out of his way to be compassionate and to serve as a mentor to us. Mr. Rubin always joked around with us and proved to be a great resource over the past four years.

I took psychology last semester with Mr. Racki and he did a excellent job of tying in current events and phenomena to the psych curriculum. It was interesting to look at current events through the lens of psychology. Mr. Racki allows plenty of time for discussion and debate especially when we dove deeper into the more philosophical end of psychology.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I love the way CRLS draws on its location. I cannot count the number of field trips I have taken to Harvard Museums, MIT, Biogen, Boston University, and various Boston theaters. CRLS students also get to enjoy guest speakers and speaker forums at Cambridge Public Libraries.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
The Marine Science Internship (MSI)! Mr. McGuinness teaches Marine Biology and Oceanography and runs this amazing opportunity. The MSI is a great chance to work in a lab and gain a real understanding of whether research science is a true interest. You leave at the beginning of fourth period and head out to your respective lab and assist a grad student with their research project. It is important to schedule your science classes carefully to fir the MSI into your schedule. The MSI was one of the most difficult and most rewarding classes I took at CRLS and I recommend it to anyone who is considering a science career!

Advice to Incoming Freshmen
My greatest piece of advise is to take elective classes. Rindge has a huge variety of academic elective from Anthropology to Anatomy and Physiology to Science Journalism to Personal Finance. These are the classes that I enjoyed most, that broadened my perspective, and that I highly encourage upcoming Freshmen to enroll in.
