Zarya Miranda: A True Role Model

Zarya Miranda: A True Role Model

ZaryaClasses may have ended last Friday for seniors at CRLS but while most soon-to-be-graduates were chilling out over the weekend, Zarya Miranda was very busy coordinating and hosting the third annual CRLS Sisters on the Runway club benefit Fashion Show. The club and the show raise money for Transition House, Cambridge's domestic violence shelter. The evening was a creative tour de force that celebrated the transformation from abuse to freedom. Miranda conceived the show's program that balanced the fun and excitement of CRLS performing artists and the work of up and coming local designers with sobering facts about dating and domestic violence. The event was held at MIT, which generously donated the venue.

But this was not the end of the weekend festivities for Ms. Miranda. On Sunday, she was an honoree at the 5th annual Transition House Garden Party, chaired by Rep. Marjorie Decker. Ms. Miranda was given the 2015 Green Door Award for her work in support of Transition House, healthy relationships and strong communities. Also awarded were US Congresswoman Katherine Clark, Nurse Jean Burbidge, The Cambridge Housing Authority, and Transition House staff member, Julie Kahn-Schaye. CRLS is very proud of all that Miranda has accomplished and we wish her the best as she moves on to her studies at UMass Boston.
