Favorite Class at CRLS
I love history because it's so interdisciplinary. You can't talk about historical events without talking about religion, language, culture, gender, education, economics, environment, and more. The intersection of all of those themes is fascinating to me.

Favorite Teacher
Ms. Chaney, Ms. Yu, and Mr. Hernandez. All three of them taught me that I could do things that I didn't believe I could. Ms. Chaney showed me how to have a growth mindset and do things that I enjoy just because I enjoy them. Ms. Yu taught me that school sits at the intersection between psychology, politics, academics, and many more powerful forces in our world. There is so much going on beneath the surface. Mr. Hernandez (and my classmates in our legendary Spanish 5 class) taught me that any space -- even a random classroom at 8:05 in the morning -- can feel like home if you bring enough positivity (and food) to that space.

What are some of the out-of-school time (OST) programs that you participated in between grades 6 - 12?
None

How did being enrolled in any OST program(s) contribute to your success in and out of high school?
N/A

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I like the variety at CRLS most. Every day something different is happening. Every group of people has a different way of seeing and enjoying our school. If you look, there are tons of new weird spaces to hang out in.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
People unfamiliar with CRLS should know that no one has the full picture. There are so many groups and perspectives that no matter how confidently anyone says they understand our school at its core, they are mistaken.

Advice to Incoming Freshmen
You get what you take from everything. If you smile, people will smile back. If you do your best, other people (both students and teachers) will give you their best. If you ask for help and refuse to stop asking until you get it, people will help you. Go out and get the love and support that you deserve :)

Also, take Zoology. No matter who you are, Zoology is the place for you.
