Changes in fare structure will impact students who use the MBTA to travel. Single ride fares are now $0.75 for local bus, and $1 for rapid transit (subway). Listed below are the Charlie Cards CRLS will offer this year-
- Stored Value Charlie Card: This card is free but has no initial value stored on the card. Students who obtain this card must go to the MBTA station to add money using their own funds and they will then be charged half price when they use it.
- 5 Day Student Monthly Charlie Card Pass: This card costs $25 per month. Students who purchase this card will have unlimited local bus and rapid transit access only during the school week, weekdays Monday through Friday.
- 7 Day Student Monthly Charlie Card Pass: This card costs $28 per month. Students who purchase this card will have unlimited local bus and rapid transit access throughout the duration of the month, including weekends.
Students who wish to obtain a 5 Day or 7 Day Student Monthly Charlie Card for September will need to purchase their pass by Monday, September 10, 2012. Students can purchase either pass in their Learning Community office.
Please contact your child’s Learning Community if you have questions regarding Charlie Cards.
For the 2012-13 school year, once a student has purchased a monthly pass, a plastic, numbered CharlieCard will be issued to that student, and will be used for the entire school year. Once payment is received by the school, the CharlieCard will be activated.
STUDENTS SHOULD NOT DISPOSE OF THEIR CHARLIECARD.
The card will remain active as long as payment is made each month. Payments can be made on a monthly basis, several months in advance, or for the entire school year. If a monthly payment is not made, the school will notify the “T”, and the CharlieCard will be deactivated for that month. Upon payment, a student’s CharlieCard can be reactivated.
If a student no longer wishes to participate in the program, they
should return their card to the Dean of Students office, and the
numbered CharlieCard will be reassigned to another student or
returned to the “T”.
Students are also offered a Student Charlie Card that is free, and
the student has to go to a “T” station and put money on it and
when they use it they will be charged a reduced student fare.
For more Information students should contact their Dean of Students.
