Bike Safety Workshop

Bike SafetyOn Friday, April 13, 2018 a free bike safety workshop was held for all CRLS students in the main cafeteria during all three lunches. Galen Mook, Adi Philson, and Gamal Smith from CommonWheels Bicycle Collective took students through three stations-- bike maintenance, road infrastructure, and safety tips for riding (helmet fit, bike lights at night, and signaling and riding predictably). All participants earned free pizza and a bike helmet, provided outside the Community Development Department of the City of Cambridge (Thanks, Jennifer Lawrence!).

Bike HelmetParticipating students were also entered in a raffle for a brand new, first ever CRLS Personalized Bike Helmet. Helmets were made possible by a Friends of CRLS Grant awarded to the CRLS Bike Advocates, and personalization with the Falcon Logo was made possible by donated vinyl printing from the Fab Lab at the Cambridge Innovation Center (Thanks, Julie Hansen!). CRLS Bike Advocates junior Ezra Rudel and freshman Gabe Traietti handed out pizza, directed students to the workshop, and informed students of the raffle during all three lunches, with permission from their teachers. Raffle winners will be drawn next week.
