Cambridge Rindge and Latin School presents HONK! The Musical
Posted on 10/10/2018
This year’s fall musical at CRLS is Honk!, an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling. Directed by Michael Lopez, HONK! follows the harrowing journey of a misrepresented hatchling to discover those things we all seek: his identity, his place in the world, understanding, and love. Music is by George Stiles, book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe who says, “The principle theme of the show is clearly the acceptance of others who may appear different for whatever reason.”

Since it first hatched in England in 1993, Honk! has taken flight around the world and won three Best Musical awards: the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award (beating The Lion King and Mama Mia), The FNB Award in South Africa, and the Elliot Norton Award. This relatable story of acceptance is appropriate for all ages, and will be especially attractive to families; with its unique gaggle of characters, catchy songs, and eggseptionally punny and clever comedy, how can it fail to quack everyone up?

Performances are November 2, 3, 9, and 10 at 7PM, and November 11 at 2PM at the Fitzgerald Theatre, CRLS Arts Building, 459 Broadway, Cambridge. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children, students and seniors. Seating is reserved and can be purchased in advance. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door (cash only).
