Favorite subject at CRLS
History

Why is it your favorite subject?
History is my favorite subject because it is so versatile. I love learning about events past and present, and how they connect to one another. From taking classes like Women and Gender Studies and AP US Government and Politics, and so many more unique history electives that CRLS offers, I have gotten to broaden my understanding of the world around me and develop critical thinking skills that have helped me beyond my school work.

Favorite CRLS Staff Person
Ms.Rayman-Read

What makes that staff person so special?

Ms. Read is one of the most selfless, and caring educators I've ever met. She puts her students first. She has been an amazing support system for me these past few years. Even as someone who hasn't directly been my teacher, Ms. Read has welcomed me into her classroom with open arms and provided me with a space where I can go whenever I need. She has supported me with Title IX work, as well as helped me tremendously with the college application process.

What were some of the out-of-school time (O.S.T) programs that you participated in anytime between grades 6-12?
N/A

How did being enrolled in any O.S.T. program(s) contribute to your success both in and out of high school?
N/A

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I really like the RSTA program at CRLS because it has prepared me for job searching and allowed me to work (doing what I love!) during the school day. I've taken the Early Education and Care RSTA course since my freshman year and have learned so many real-world skills as well as built strong relationships with my classmates and teacher! From the tight-knit classroom community to working in two amazing kindergarten and preschool classrooms to complete my practicum and become EEC certified, EEC has felt like home to me.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
There are so many opportunities at CRLS to take advantage of! There are so many in school and out of school opportunities they offer. Make connections with your teachers and those around you. I have been able to meet such amazing people through others and with that have been able to be involved in several events/organizations/clubs at CRLS and beyond.

What advice would you give incoming freshmen about CRLS?
Just go for it! If there is a club you are thinking about joining, join it. If there is something within the system you think needs to be changed, take steps to change it. Take risks! It's going to be nerve racking at first, but it will be worth it in the end.
