Favorite Class at CRLS
Computer Science. I enjoy programming and learned a lot while taking the APCS classes.

Favorite Teacher
Doug McGlathery. He is very supportive and always willing to help! He wrote countless recommendations for me and encouraged me to use my knowledge beyond the classroom.

What are some of the out-of-school time (OST) programs that you participated in between grades 6 - 12?
I participated in the Broadening Engagement through Engineering at MIT(BEEAM) program and the Science Research Mentoring Program (SRMP).

How did being enrolled in any OST program(s) contribute to your success in and out of high school?
Being in these programs allowed me to explore different areas within the STEM field and build connections with other researchers. I met a lot of great people who were incredibly supportive and helpful when I was applying to college.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I liked the diversity because it created an inclusive environment and I never felt out-of-place because there was always someone I could relate to in some way, shape, or form. I also liked the numerous opportunities that students had access to. I was able to be a research intern at Harvard and MIT which allowed me to explore my interests and build my job network.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
There is an entire bio-technology lab where you can do everything from dyeing cells to replicating DNA. This is important to know because many high schools do not have expansive labs like the ones at CRLS. This leaves a lot of room for students to grow and learn beyond the school curriculum.

Advice to Incoming Freshmen
Don't limit yourself because school is what you make of it. Set goals for yourself and follow through. It is OK to leave toxic relationships, your mental health matters!
