Favorite subject at CRLS
Computer Science

Why is it your favorite subject?
My favorite food is orange chicken because of the rich sweetness in the chicken, especially when eaten with rice. It can be paired with different types of sides as well, which makes it an overall good meal.

Favorite CRLS Staff Person
Dr. Wu

What makes that staff person so special?
Dr. Wu has helped me realize my potential since freshman year. As someone who has been my teacher for six semesters at CRLS, he has truly seen my growth from beginning to end. Besides helping me take academics more seriously, Dr. Wu has helped me in a multitude of ways, from recommendation letters to even helping me secure a strong internship. There was a changing moment in my AP Computer Science Principals class freshman year that made me decide to actually put in effort in every assignment that I do. That was because of him. I can truly say with confidence that part of my success is thanks to the people that have supported me throughout high school, and Dr. Wu is definitely one of them.

Extracurricular activities, clubs, school-related activities
Christian Club (Leader), Club 4

What were some of the out-of-school time (O.S.T) programs that you participated in anytime between grades 6-12?
Gately, Moses Youth Center, Russel, Minds Matter Boston

How did being enrolled in any O.S.T. program(s) contribute to your success both in and out of high school?
Every out-of-school program and club has significantly made an impact on my high school years because it made me know what community is. It felt like I had family in different parts of Cambridge, which overall made high school more comfortable, as people I knew from these different programs also became close friends I could rely on.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
Out of everything CRLS had to offer, I liked the many opportunities the school had to offer. Whether it was a club, event, or resource, CRLS has done excellent at giving students like myself strong opportunities. I strongly believe the community in the school is stronger because of the resources provided, as students can choose their own path to follow. Not one student follows the same path at CRLS and that's one of the reasons why the school is so great. As one of the students who took advantage of the opportunities like RSTA and clubs, I truly felt the impact of how lucky I was to be attending the school.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
People unfamiliar with CRLS should know that the school is very student oriented and diverse. As Cambridge in general is very diversified, the school consists of people with all different backgrounds. You are certain to find your group of people, as there is a friend for everyone here. With different guides and support systems, the school also makes sure their students are their number one priority. It's important to know that there are countless communities at CRLS, which makes the school feel warm and welcoming.

What advice would you give incoming freshmen about CRLS?
Don't perform for other people, do things because you genuinely want to, not because others are doing it too. You should also find your group of people, because those people will truly shape your experience at CRLS. With that, it's important to also be surrounded with people who believe in your potential, people who push you to think harder, not just people who look good around you. Ask for help, even though it may be difficult, there are people who are always willing to support you. Stay true to yourself!
