Favorite subject at CRLS
Computer Science

Why is it your favorite subject?
I’ve taken all the computer science classes in CRLS and the teachers in the computer science curriculum are so generous and helpful and have been so critical to my learning and my success. Shoutout Dr. Wu, Mr. Murphy, Andrew Jang, and Dr. Tupper!

Favorite CRLS Staff Person
Dr. Wu

What makes that staff person so special?
He is one of the most caring people I’ve ever met. He wants to see you try your best and is ready to help you if you make mistakes. He gave me so much confidence as a student because he is always ready to congratulate you on your success in his class and make you feel proud of yourself. He’s one of the nicest people you will ever have as a teacher and his teaching style is so exceptional. Dr. Wu has helped me in so many ways including writing recommendation letters for me, submitting me for a scholarship that I won without my knowledge, and so many lessons have been given to me by him. He’s special and I hope the best for Dr. Wu.

Extracurricular activities, clubs, school-related activities
Club 4, Christian Club, Student Government

What were some of the out-of-school time (O.S.T) programs that you participated in anytime between grades 6-12?
Gatley, Moses Youth Center, Minds Matter Boston

How did being enrolled in any O.S.T. program(s) contribute to your success both in and out of high school?
The out of school programs I engaged in help me build a sense of community and belonging within Cambridge. The people I met at these places became my friends at school and became people I could rely on.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
The opportunities are endless at CRLS. There’s so many things you can do here and I’m happy I didn’t take it for granted. One of my best friends can start his trade school journey way quicker than other people because of his engagement in the strong RSTA program CRLS has. All the classes CRLS has, the extracurricular activities, the scholarships, there’s so many things to take advantage of.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
CRLS is an amazing place with amazing people. I think meeting as many people as you can is the best way to experience CRLS, as everyone has something interesting to share or help you with. In the same way, always be willing to help others!

What advice would you give incoming freshmen about CRLS?
There are so many different communities within CRLS. CRLS is one of the most diverse communities in Massachusetts, there is a place for everybody here and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. There is such a strong community within CRLS!
