Favorite Class at CRLS
My English teachers not only taught me how to read and write, but also how to think. Reading, writing, and interpreting literature does not come naturally to me, yet I’ve improved enormously over the past four years. This is all because of the incredible teachers I’ve had and their ability to experiment and adjust their classroom to create open spaces for discussion and critique.

Favorite Teacher
Ms. Menges. Everyone that walks into her classroom is greeted with a smile and anyone that has a conversation with her leaves in a better mood. She combines an atmosphere of warmth and comfort that eases self-expression in an open space with the push for self-improvement that is necessary in creating thoughtful, creative, and beautiful artwork.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I loved my teachers. Almost every one of them had a passion for teaching and a genuine interest in their class material that brightened my classroom experience tremendously. The amount of time and energy they put into teaching their students is what made me so interested and willing to put so much effort into my schoolwork. They made me love learning and broadened my interests.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
People who are unfamiliar with CRLS should know that it is an open community filled with students from a wide array of backgrounds. We celebrate and love our diversity, though we have a long way to go until that diversity is reflected in every classroom and friend group.

Advice to Incoming Freshmen
Listen to what others have to say and don’t assume you are right. One of the worst things you could do coming into a school like CRLS with people from so many different places and experiences is to be close-minded.
