Home-Based Early Childhood Education Program

Home-Based LearningThe Home-Based Early Childhood Program is a family play, literacy and school readiness program; a partnership with Cambridge Public Schools and ParentChild+ (ParentChild Plus) National Program. For more information about this evidenced-based program click here.

The Home-Based Early Childhood Program aims to promote the importance of learning through a playful engagement and meaningful relationships. This year the program has been focusing on outdoor play, themed neighborhood walk, and library visits. Early Learning Specialists and caregivers work together to explore ways to learn by observing, nurturing curiosity, asking questions, talking, and learning from their natural environment to develop a love for life-long learning for young children.

There are 12 Early Learning Specialists from diverse backgrounds, who visit families once a week from October to June. During this time, the Early Learning Specialists, parent/legal caregiver and children connect and exchange ideas using a playful ideas, books and materials we provide during the school year. We meet families near their home, at playgrounds, libraries and other community settings.

Program participation eligibility include:

  • Live in Cambridge
