Every
spring, deserving CRLS graduating seniors receive many scholarships and
awards.
What are scholarships?
Scholarships
are financial awards to students that do not have to be repaid, also
known as “free money.” Scholarship awards can range from just a few
dollars to covering the full tuition bill. So, it is definitely worth
the time to do your research and apply.
Who offers scholarships?
A
variety of sources offer scholarships, including federal and state
governments and private sources, such as employers, individuals,
professional associations, and educational institutions.
Scholarship Scams
If
you have to pay money to get money, it's probably a scam. Every year,
several hundred thousand students and parents are defrauded by
scholarship scams. The victims of these scams lose more than $100
million annually. Scam operations often imitate legitimate government
agencies, grant-giving foundations, education lenders and scholarship
matching services, using official-sounding names containing words like "National,"
"Federal," "Foundation," or "Administration." Be wary of scholarships
with an application fee, scholarship matching services who guarantee success, advance-fee loan scams and sales pitches disguised as financial aid "seminars." Click here for more information on common scholarships scams.
