CRLS Orchestra Wins GOLD at MICCA

Congratulations to the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Orchestra for achieving a prestigious GOLD RATING at the MICCA Festival!

This remarkable accomplishment marks the orchestra's inaugural participation at the MICCA Festival, led by the talented direction of Laura Umbro on Friday, April 5th. Notably, they stood out as the sole group to clinch gold in Danvers on that day. The orchestra's journey is striking; from its humble beginnings with merely six students sixteen years ago, it has now burgeoned to nearly forty members who competed with fervor this weekend.

The event held significant moments beyond the accolade itself. One of the adjudicators holds a connection to contemporary composer Brian Balmages, who crafted the second piece in the program. Her excitement in sharing our recording with him underscores the caliber of the performance. Furthermore, the gracious host at Danvers High School lauded the CRLS Orchestra as one of the finest high school orchestras he's ever encountered. He eagerly requested to share our recording with his ensemble, citing it as an exemplar of authentic expression and dynamics.

Such recognition speaks volumes about the dedication, talent, and passion coursing through the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School Orchestra. They have not only distinguished themselves with their musical prowess but also inspired admiration and emulation from peers and professionals alike. Cheers to an achievement well-deserved!
