CRLS Chinese teacher Zuwei Shi has published "The Essential Chinese Reader" – a new textbook for learning Chinese. The book is focused on oral communication and provides grammatical explanations as well as sentence patterns analysis to assist student mastery of the language. The book, which has been written for use at the high school and college levels, includes a listening CD.
