FOCRLSFriends of CRLS (focrls.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding opportunities for students, faculty, and alumni of our high school, is thrilled to announce that they will present $91,000 in scholarships and awards to members of the CRLS Class of 2024!

The 52 various scholarships and awards are made possible by numerous donors, grantors, and sponsors. Friends of CRLS is also appreciative of all of the previous recipients who have shared their goals, stories, and updates of successes, showing how they are deserving and determined to make the world a better place. These recipients have been instrumental in the organization’s fundraising.

Friends of CRLS welcomes three new sponsors this year: Tarik Gessesse (CRLS ‘11), for a senior of Ethiopian descent; Kathleen M. Kelly, for a senior who self-identifies as a woman or with womanhood (including transgender, gender fluid, and non-binary persons) and will be the first in their family to attend college; and friends of Larry Rosenberg, for a senior committed to addressing the existential threat of climate change.

Other scholarships include the Bristol Myers Squibb Scholarship for Science, the CambridgeSeven STEAM Award, the Friends of CRLS First Scholars Awards Sponsored by Cambridge Trust, and the Cheri Kamen Targoff Memorial Scholarship for the Humanities. The Dr. Christopher Saheed Future Educators Scholarship honors the late CRLS principal who helped establish Friends of CRLS in 2006, while the Elaine Schear “Voice of the First Generation” Creative Writing Scholarship honors Friends of CRLS’s co-founder and retired executive director, who has a passion for poetry and prose.
