Favorite subject at CRLS
Math, Computer Science
Why is it your favorite subject?
I love math, it makes a lot of logical sense and can't be turned or biased like other subjects can be. I think no other field has the same sense of beauty that math does. Computer science is similar, and it's also super important in this day and age. I've had a really great experience in math and cs classes here. Mr.McGlathery was awesome in AP CS, and Machine Learning and AI is my all-time favorite class here at CRLS.
Favorite CRLS Staff Person
Ms. Watson, Dr. Lam
What makes that staff person so special?
Ms.Watson was the advisor for the Math Club, so I collaborated with her quite a bit. She's one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet (and not only because she bakes).Dr.Lam is an incredible teacher and of course the supreme authoritarian leader of Lamistan. Her comp gov class might've made me want to study international relations.
Extracurricular activities, clubs, school-related activities
Math Club, Debate Club, Underwater Robotics, MUN
What were some of the out-of-school time (O.S.T) programs that you participated in anytime between grades 6-12?
N/A
How did being enrolled in any O.S.T. program(s) contribute to your success both in and out of high school?
N/A
What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I think the thing I liked most about CRLS was the people and the experiences I've had with them. From traveling with the debate club and math club, to taking apart computers and (hopefully) not exploding computers in machine learning, it's been a great journey, and I've met so many cool people that I hope to keep in touch with in the future.
What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
CRLS is super diverse, so try to make lots of friends, because you'll meet lots of cool people! Also, if you ever need help, CRLS has so many support systems, so just ask your guidance counselor or a friend or a teacher and you'll probably be able to find something.
What advice would you give incoming freshmen about CRLS?
Don't worry too much, everything will turn out fine :)
