Letter Around Course Placement Process SY2025-26

Dear CRLS Community,

Girl wearing Math HelmetWelcome to the Cambridge Rindge & Latin School Mathematics Department! We believe that every student is a mathematician—capable of deep thinking, problem-solving, and success in their math journey. Our team of dedicated teachers is committed to providing the best mathematics instruction possible, ensuring that all students have access to rigorous and meaningful learning experiences that challenge and inspire them.
Our primary goal is to help students reach their full potential as logical problem-solvers and critical thinkers. To achieve this, we strive to meet students where they are and challenge them through thought-provoking and engaging lessons where they are active participants in their learning. Using the most current technology, research-based instructional strategies, and data-driven decision-making, we ensure that students build the skills they need for the 21st century and beyond.

As part of our ongoing commitment to equity and excellence in mathematics instruction, we are:

  • Expanding Access to Challenging Coursework: Every student deserves the opportunity to engage in high-level mathematics, regardless of their previous experiences.
  • Providing Targeted Support: Our math team is dedicated to supporting students through co-teaching models, small-group instruction, and extra support sessions.
  • Encouraging a Growth Mindset: Mathematics is about more than just finding the right answer—it’s about learning, making connections, and developing confidence. We encourage students to embrace challenges and persist through difficulties.

We also invite families to be active participants in their student’s math education. Parents and guardians can stay informed through Aspen, where teachers provide course syllabi and homework assignments. If you want to learn more about our opportunities, feel free to look at the Course Catalog & some of our Pathways Information. We encourage families to engage in problem-solving discussions at home and to reach out to teachers via email or phone with any questions or concerns. Your partnership is vital to student success.

Best regards,
