Vision of a Graduate

The High School Extension Program, our community and stakeholders, believe that, in order to be prepared for college and career, all graduates will meet the following criteria:

Community
  • Engage with all communities through internships, networking, civic engagement, and school improvement
  • Recognize that diverse views and contributions enhance communities
  • Strive to give back to communities central to graduate’s life and passions             
Accountability
  • Possess a strong sense of self, and confidence in their individual assets
  • Understand social-emotional well-being and self-reflection are essential to health
  • View setbacks as a necessary step in learning
  • Exhibit behaviors that express empathy and compassion for others
Respect
  • Demonstrate respect for self and others in learning, work, and social environments
  • Take personal responsibility for all work, actions, and exchanges
  • Communicate with mindfulness and purpose
  • Promote inclusivity by welcoming alternate points of view
Excellence
  • Ask relevant questions and make meaningful connections to solve complex problems
  • Access reliable, valid sources of information in order to form opinions
  • Experiment with different methods to create new understandings
  • Apply understanding of basic skills to reach higher levels of learning
  • Persevere and be resilient through adversity to achieve goals
  • Develop multiple short-term and long-term goals
  • Recognize there are endless paths to success
Studentship
  • Attends each of their classes and 1:1’s regularly
  • In the event of an absence, reaches out using professional communication in a prompt fashion to teacher, advisor and main office
  • Arrives to class on time, prepared to learn using their laptop or similar device
  • Finds a safe, quiet learning environment where they can participate in their courses without interruption
