The High School Extension Program (HSEP)

Distance (Online Learning)
All assignments for students in grades 9-12 will be updated regularly through Google Classroom and students should work towards completion of these assignments. For students on Edgenuity, they should continue to work towards completing their courses and stay current on their weekly goals.

The High School Extension Program serves up to 70 students in grades 9-12 and is part of the Cambridge Public School District. The school is located at the former Longfellow School at 359 Broadway. Modeled on other successful, non-traditional high school programs in the nation, this program allows students to learn in an alternative setting with focuses on academic skill building, critical thinking and authentic, project-based learning experiences.

Our personalized setting permits students who have not performed well in school elsewhere an opportunity to be successful academically and socially to meet their goals for a post-secondary path.

What makes HSEP different from CRLS?

  • HSEP is a small school with no more than 70 students
  • Highly personalized to support student needs
  • Class size is limited to 15 students
  • 9th and 10th grade classes focused on skill development and critical thinking skills
  • 11th and 12th grade classes that are more student-directed focused on authentic, project-based learning
  • Social-emotional and post-secondary support for all students in classrooms
