Dear Parent/Guardian,
This year we will administer the ELA MCAS to all 10th graders on March 27th, 28th and 29th. 10th graders will take the Math MCAS on May 23rd and 24th. Science MCAS will be administered to all 9th graders and those upper grade students who need to take them on June 6th and June 7th.
In order to facilitate a test administration that will allow these tests to be taken in the most positive setting, CRLS will use a non-standard schedule on all of the MCAS testing days.
The following schedule shows when the tests will be given and the impact on the regular schedules during the testing periods:
- On Tuesday, March 27th and Wednesday, March 28th only 10th graders will come to school at 8:05 AM to take the ELA MCAS. 9th, 11th and 12th grade students will report to class at 11:08AM or Lunch A.
- On Thursday, March 29th only 10th graders will come to school at 8:05 AM to take the ELA MCAS. 9th, 11th and 12th grade students will report to class at 10:34AM.
- On Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th, only 10th graders will come to school at 8:05AM. They will take the MCAS Math test. 9th, 11th and 12th grade students will report to class at 11:08AM or Lunch A.
- On Wednesday, June 6th and Thursday, June 7th only 9th graders and upperclassmen who have not passed the Science MCAS will come to school at 8:05AM. All other students will report to class at 11:08AM or Lunch A.
If students miss the Long Composition test on Tuesday, March 27th, they may make it up on April 5th only if they have a note from a licensed physician documenting their illness. If students miss any other day of testing they must bring a note from home. Their Dean will arrange a time for them to make up the test they missed.
Students will be given as much time as needed to complete all sections of the test on each day, however, they must finish the test by the end of the school day. They should plan to bring a book with them to read if they finish a test early. All students will be asked to hand the teacher administering the tests their cell phone and any other electronic equipment before they are allowed to take the test. If a student is found with a cell phone or other electronic equipment during the test, the test will be invalidated and the student will have to take the test again in order to be able to graduate.
Please encourage your son or daughter to get a good night’s sleep, and to eat a good breakfast before the test. It is important that we work together so that every student will succeed. With your help I believe that we can reach that goal. Thank you for your cooperation.
