Extra Curricula
I was a Teacher Assistant in a math class. I also volunteered during Parent/ Teacher conferences to help Haitian families who did not speak English. In addition I also volunteered in the International Center providing orientation to incoming students.
Favorite Class at CRLS
ESL. I did not speak any English when I came to the United States. This class was very important to me so I could communicate with others.
Favorite Teacher
Dan Weathersby. He is very special to me because he always took the time to help me. He is like a father to me. He always checks on me.
What are some of the out-of-school time (OST) programs that you participated in between grades 6 - 12?
I Completed a Leadership program with Enroot and acted as an Enroot program ambassador. I was also Junior staff member for the Summer discovery Program (ELL Program) and worked at CCTV.
How did being enrolled in any OST program(s) contribute to your success in and out of high school?
These programs helped me improve my English skills and gave me an opportunity to meet other students from all over the world. I loved the fact that I could help new students because I was one of the 4 years ago.
What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
The people that work here (teachers and counselors) because they are very helpful. I also like all the programs that CRLS has, like Haitian Club and BSU.
What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
People should know that this is a very special place with many opportunities and that staff are very helpful.
Advice to Incoming Freshmen
My advice is for them to be focused in class, have a good relationship with teachers and counselors and to take advantage of all the activities.o
