Favorite Class at CRLS
History. I like to understand the way the world works through historical events and stories. I find learning about everyday people, civilizations, and the successes and failures of people meaningful and sometimes inspiring. It’s also interesting to see how crucial times in history inspired the art and design world - it gives a different perspective to what the human experience was like, especially when it is told through the eyes of an artist.
Favorite Teacher
Greta Hardina. I’ve had a ton of teachers and staff at CRLS that have been supportive and shaped the way I learn. However, I’m thankful for Greta’s flexibility, and compassion throughout my time at CRLS. She’s set me up with a lot of opportunities outside of class, and has been a large supporter of my goals. Without her kindness and support it would not have been possible for me to turn a summer program into a paid position. She attended my final review at the Harvard Graduate school of design and attended most of my mural unveilings and events in the community. I’m also thankful for Greta’s generosity, as she also provided resources that enabled me to help my family at home.
What are some of the out-of-school time (OST) programs that you participated in between grades 6 - 12?

How did being enrolled in any OST program(s) contribute to your success in and out of high school?
These programs allowed me to create work that I put together into a strong art portfolio for college applications. My curated work reflects a full range of my ideas, curiosity, experimentation, and experience in creating and making. This includes work in painting, drawing, and digital art mostly a result of project work and self-directed exploration.
What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
I liked the people. Both the students and teachers have had a profound impact on me. There is a lot to learn from everyone at Rindge. I also liked the multitude of opportunities that come with the arts classes I could take.
What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
There’s a place for you - there are a ton of great classes to take and you probably won’t be able to take them all, so If you are interested in something, do everything you can to get involved, and don't wait around.
Advice to Incoming Freshmen
Make an effort to talk to your teachers, try as many things as possible early, and do what you love consistently. It’s also important to remember that you don’t have to struggle on your own and that you should reach out for help.
