CRLS Travels Abroad In 2012

Students at CRLS are offered the opportunity to travel abroad throughout their high school experience. Highlighted below are just a few of this years trips. Where is CRLS headed next? Find out >>

Italy
Twenty three intrepid Latin students and three teachers traveled to Italy over February vacation 2012 for a nine day opportunity to visit many of the sites that they have studied in Latin class. The tour started in the Bay of Naples area. Staying in Sorrento, a lovely seaside resort town on the Amalfi coast, the students took day trips to explore the vast archaeological site of Pompeii, three majestic Greek temples poised on a cliff overlooking the sea in Paestum, and the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Panama
In January, in the heart of Panama, people from all around the world were tapping their feet and clapping their hands to the sound of sweet, sweet jazz. Musicians were playing at venues throughout Panama City, and jam sessions were swinging long into the night. The sky was blue, and the sea was green, and the city was alive with music. It was the Panama Jazz Festival.

Because of the diligent efforts of Guillermo Nojechowicz, who organized our concerts and fundraisers and helped us jump numerous hurdles in getting the trip approved, a group of six CRLS students/jazz ambassadors (including this Register Forum news correspondent) were fortunate enough to be able to attend and play in this amazing week-long festival. Spain
Chocolate chip cookies and Thanksgiving turkey were the order of the day when 20 students from Majadahonda, Spain arrived last September to spend three weeks in the homes of CRLS families and attend classes with their American "brothers" and "sisters". This was the second part of a bilateral exchange with "Instituto Leonardo DaVinci", a comprehensive public high school 10 kilometers outside of Madrid. Twelve CRLS students traveled to Spain at the end of June to experience Spanish life, including visits to iconic places such as Toledo and the Prado Art Museum as well as coming home to a doting Spanish family.
