Favorite Class at CRLS
Foundations of Art. I love doing art, and the class Foundations of Art is a good opportunity to get to try a lot of different forms of art. Some of the things we did was drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking.
Favorite Teacher
My favorite teacher is Mr. MacLaury. Mr. MacLaury is a super helpful and knowledgeable teacher. From having little prior knowledge about U.S. history, it became one of my favorite topics. Mr. MacLaury makes his classes fun and interesting, by connecting history with concepts and information that we can relate to. He teaches us how we can use history in the past to understand the world today. He also genuinely believes in and tries to help all of his students.
Also a big shoutout to my guidance counselor Mr. Tubinis. He is super nice and has helped me a lot more than I could expect.
What are some of the out-of-school time (OST) programs that you participated in between grades 6 - 12?
Student government (Askoy High school), a leader in the life-skills program “MOT”.
How did being enrolled in any OST program(s) contribute to your success in and out of high school?
I love doing sports and have used a lot of time outside of school on that. It is such a nice way to meet people and to have fun. I also believe that being physically active helped me being focused and doing better at school.
What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
What I like most about CRLS is that it is always something that happens at the school. It is always either a game, a musical, a show, spirit week, or something else going on. I have also appreciated that the school is multicultural. Because it is so diverse, you get to know people from all kind of backgrounds.
What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
That CRLS is an amazing school! Coming from another high school with far fewer opportunities, I have really appreciated the many opportunities at CRLS. Cambridge Rindge and Latin has everything you can wish for. Since there are so many classes and extracurriculars to choose among, everyone can find something that they really like and are good at.
Advice to Incoming Freshmen
My best advice for incoming freshmen is to get involved in out of school activities. CRLS has amazing opportunities within sports, dance, music, drama, clubs, etc. Anyone can find something they like, and it is a very good opportunity to get to know people and to do something you love. This will make school so much more fun, and you will look forward to coming to school every day.
