Favorite subject at CRLS
History

Why is it your favorite subject?
I learned so much about the world around me and I was also able to take some of the new history classes that were really engaging. The history teachers at the high school are also amazing people. They are extremely nice and end up being everyone's favorites.

Favorite CRLS Staff Person
Sharon Lozada

What makes that staff person so special?

Ms. Lozada always cares for her students. She has helped me through so much. For instance she has helped me with college essays, school work, and also just giving me a place feel where I feel comfortable in such a big school. She helps me all the time and checks in with me the way a teacher should. She also lets us and other students use her space as our own and she always makes sure we are taken care of.

Extracurricular activities, clubs, school-related activities

Girls Varsity Basketball, Black Students Union, Peer Mentor Support Group, #HerVote, Girls Volleyball

What were some of the out-of-school time (O.S.T) programs that you participated in anytime between grades 6-12?
Other than the Mayors program, nothing.

How did being enrolled in any O.S.T. program(s) contribute to your success both in and out of high school?
I wasn't really that involved in OST programs other than mayors. Mayors helped me make connections and it also helped me with my people skills.

What did you like most about CRLS? Why?
What I liked most about CRLS is the amount of opportunities that are available to students at the high school. There are so many clubs, classes, and out of school opportunities that you will find something for yourself and if not, you can always create something that is yours.

What is something people unfamiliar with CRLS should know about the school? Why?
CRLS is a really big school so the best thing you can do is ask. Students run so many of the great programs at the school so asking around is the best thing. Also you need to be able to advocate for yourself cause it can be just as easy to get lost.

What advice would you give incoming freshmen about CRLS?
Be involved in everything that interests you but also balance yourself and take care of yourself. Ask all the questions you have because someone else probably has the same one. Also keep your GPA up your freshman year so that way you can build up on top of it every year instead of struggling to fix it in your later years.
